Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law that enables members of the public to request records from federal agencies.

Federal agencies are required to disclose any information requested under the FOIA unless it falls under one of nine exemptions which protect interests such as personal privacy, national security, and law enforcement.

FOIA is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government. The definition of AS's publicly available FOIA records is in ASC’s Regulations, specifically 12 CFR Part 1102, Subpart D §1102.305.
